Meta’s New Subscription Plans: What They Mean for Your Social Media

Meta is introducing new subscription plans and changes to how some Facebook business accounts share website links. If you’ve seen subscription prompts or experienced trouble adding links to posts, you may be wondering whether you now need to pay.

There’s no need to rush into a subscription. These changes affect accounts differently, and the right approach depends on the features available to your account and how you use social media.

What’s changing?

Meta’s subscription offerings include AI tools, verification, account protection, and business publishing features. These benefits differ between plans.

Some Facebook business accounts are also encountering restrictions on how often they can share external links. That can affect posts directing followers to a website, booking page, product, event registration, or blog article.

A subscription that includes AI features or a verification badge does not necessarily include additional link sharing. Before purchasing, check the specific benefits and allowances offered to your account.

You can read more in Meta’s subscription announcement.

Do you need to pay?

A paid subscription isn’t automatically necessary. For many businesses, an adjusted content strategy may be enough. For others, particularly those that depend on frequent website links, a paid plan may be worth considering.

Your options include:

  • Continue without an additional subscription. Prioritize the most important link posts and share useful information directly in other posts.
  • Use available profile links and contact options. Where supported, direct customers to your profile’s website link or encourage inquiries through messages or phone calls.
  • Consider a plan with additional link sharing. Confirm the allowance, price, and account coverage before purchasing.
  • Strengthen other marketing channels. Your website and email newsletter can help you reach customers alongside social media.

Putting links in comments should not be treated as a guaranteed workaround, because those links may also count toward an account’s restrictions.

How we’re supporting our clients

As we manage your social media, we’ll watch for restrictions that affect your content. If we encounter an issue on your account, we’ll contact you directly to explain what we’re seeing and discuss your options.

Our recommendations will reflect your business goals, posting needs, and budget. We’ll discuss any proposed subscription or additional costs with you before moving forward.

Already experiencing an issue?

If you’re having trouble posting links or seeing prompts to purchase a subscription, please reach out. Let us know what you were trying to do and what message appeared so we can review the situation together.

For now, no action is needed. We’ll continue managing your content and contact you individually if a change needs your attention.

Platform features, pricing, and availability can change and may differ by account, app, and region.
