Projects Made Simple your small business virtual assistant

Tip #1 The Website

Why should even the smallest of businesses have a website?

Although anyone can have a website, an online presence for a small business can solidify the idea that they truly are open for business. Not only in the business owner’s mind, but also in the eyes of their customers. In an age where people need information NOW it is important to be easily identifiable.

How expensive is it to have a website?

This can drastically depend on what you are looking for, how much content you plan on having, and how often you want to update it. The website your looking at is genearlly very very basic. A few pages, some great links, and a blog post now and then. I truly built this website within just a few hours. However, that does not account for the time doing graphic designs, getting content put together, and all the EDITING it takes to build a website for someone else.  An estimate can range from $200-20,000. Most website we help put together range from $300 to $800.

What do I need to get started?

1- purchase the domain name of your choice I recommend a well known provider like GoDaddy.com

2- get hosting, this can generally be purchased at the same time from the same company you bought your domain from.

3- decide which platform (this website is built using a free template on wordpress) GoDaddy has their own platform, there are many options out there. We are most familiar with WordPress, iWeb, with some familiarity with Drupal. We can also help build something from scratch in Dreamweaver, but this is a longer, more in depth process.

From there you can design to your hearts content, or let us help get you on your way!

Testimonials

This is a shout out to Tara Backes and James Backes of Projects Made Simple. (http://www.projectsmadesimplellc.com) My websites suffered vicious attack by malware. It was completely off line. James got his Geek on and fixed it with calm and confidence. Now I can register folks for the new January retreat and all the sad emails from folks who can’t access a video or a blog post or register for a program will cease. Thanks you guys. I’m so grateful for you!!! Lisa Mitchell
